The new, 100% handmade Artway Cotton-Rag paper packs are a fantastic addition to the Indigo handmade range. Each pack, being handmade, is entirely unique in tone and grain, though overall the paper is a mid texture and a heavyweight 250gsm. For a unique and beautiful surface for your creative ideas, these paper packs are unmatched.
Suitable for watercolour, and all painting uses, as well as all dry and soft media - for oil painting, the surface will need to be prepared with gesso. Each sheet is individually handmade and features a fully deckled edge.
Created entirely by local artisans in Northern India using traditional paper-making methods.The Indigo Handmade Cotton-Rag paper comes in packs wrapped in recycled paper. It is also 100% acid-free with a neutral pH and internally gelatine sized.
Being handmade results in a paper with no real discernible grain direction. Some extremely faint marks might be discernible on one side of the paper (imprinted from the screen mesh) however there is no front and back to the surfaces. Each sheet is totally unique

Care & longevity
Rinse brushes in lukewarm water straight after painting, reshape the point with your fingers, and dry them flat or bristles-up. Treated this way, a good brush lasts years, not weeks.

Is this right for a complete beginner?
Yes. Most of the painters in our gallery started from nothing, and every kit ships with a printed step-by-step guide written for exactly what is in the box. If a product suits one level more than another, its page says so plainly.
How do the free gifts work?
Cross £45 and delivery is free. Cross £55 and the brush roll bag is packed in. Cross £65 and the Finesse detail set joins it. Everything is added to your basket automatically, there is no code to enter.
How fast is delivery?
Orders are dispatched within 24 hours. UK standard arrives in 2 to 4 working days (£3.95, free over £45), priority in 1 to 2 (£7.95). We ship to the EU and worldwide too.

Which mediums do the brushes suit?
Each product page says which mediums it suits, watercolour, acrylic or oil. Sable carries water beautifully; our firmer synthetics stand up to acrylic and oil. If you are unsure, email us what you paint and we will point you right.
