The new, 100% handmade Artway Cotton-Rag paper packs are a fantastic addition to the Indigo handmade range. Each pack, being handmade, is entirely unique in tone and grain, though overall the paper is a mid texture and a heavyweight 250gsm. For a unique and beautiful surface for your creative ideas, these paper packs are unmatched.
Suitable for watercolour, and all painting uses, as well as all dry and soft media - for oil painting, the surface will need to be prepared with gesso. Each sheet is individually handmade and features a fully deckled edge.
Created entirely by local artisans in Northern India using traditional paper-making methods.The Indigo Handmade Cotton-Rag paper comes in packs wrapped in recycled paper. It is also 100% acid-free with a neutral pH and internally gelatine sized.
Being handmade results in a paper with no real discernible grain direction. Some extremely faint marks might be discernible on one side of the paper (imprinted from the screen mesh) however there is no front and back to the surfaces. Each sheet is totally unique

Getting started
Give new brushes a gentle rinse before first use to settle the bristles, then blot dry
on a cloth. Load paint on the belly of the brush rather than pushing it into the ferrule
(the metal collar), that's what keeps a point sharp for years.
While you work
Don't leave brushes standing in water; it splays the bristles and loosens the ferrule.
Rest them flat instead, and rinse between colours.
Cleaning & storing
Rinse until the water runs clear, reshape the head with your fingers, and dry flat or
hanging down. Once fully dry, store them upright or rolled in a brush bag so nothing
presses on the tips.
